i tried the thompson center lubers but it doesnt work well because bore butter is too soft . there is a guy on ebay selling metal lubers. i just rub a little in the grooves with plastic gloves on. i dont worry about filling the whole groove. i havent noticed any problems with accuracy. i kida like the smell.

If you set the bullets in a shallow pan heat the lube [I use a concocksion I make from bore butter and a commercial bullet lube] pour it into the pan with the bullets seting on end use a peice of tubeing the size of the bullet to cut them out of the lube after it cools in the freezer till hard. I just store mine right in the tubes. Lee

I've done the same thing with setting them up in a pan, fulling with lube, put that in a refrigerator until the lube sets up, then you pick them up with tubes that you can use from speed loader. Once you get the speed loader tube filled you just snap the lids shut and can carry them that way.

BUT

I found that to be such a mess, I would just rather dip a finger full of lube, roll the conical back and fourth in the first and second finger joint, then wipe my finger back into the pan. I do up about thirty of them set them on wax paper in a pan, then put that in the freezer until they are nice and firm and you have them lubed then.

Lemoyne - that gives me some ideas to experoment with, thanks.

Cayugad - after being in the freezer do they stay firm after warming up or do you leave them in the freezer 'till the day you use them?

It all depends on the lube you have. If the lube is good, you can take them out of the freezer and they will be fine. Keep them out of direct sun and they do well. The lube I make out of castor oil seems to work real well.

Solid Lube Formula[/b]

2 ounces of Bees Wax
8 ounces of Castor Oil
1 ounce Murphy"™s Oil Soap

Using a double boiler system, melt the bees wax. While keeping the wax liquid, heat the Castor oil with the double boiler also. Then mix the two together. Stir them together and while doing this a scum will form. You need to scrap the scum off the liquid. Once the scum is scraped off the mix, then add the Murphy"™s Oil Soap and stir fast while it is melted. This will make a nice frothy appearance and very smooth. Pour the mix into containers and it will set up in a couple hours.

This mix will not break down in heat and is still usable in cold weather. It makes a great conical lube.

This is the lube I make. It came from a different forum. Not my invention but I do like the way it works. You can make it as thick as you like. After I make it up, I pour it in Altoid cans and then they fit right in my possible bag for any kind of smearing I need. This can also be used as a patch lube when shooting roundball.
