Default breech plug cleaner

If this weather would ever straighten up I'd like to go out shoot my new ML, I just don't like this cold!! I have enough supplies to start shooting except something to clean my breech plug with. I seen some stuff on the CVA site that has a plasticcontainer with capand a little dipping basket that you set your breech plug in and let it soak. Anyone have something else they buy or a "home brew" Thanks

Next time at Wal Mart pick up one of them .99 cent jars of jewlery cleaner. They have the little basket in them for the rings and ear rings. Be syre and don't let your wife, girlfriend, or what ever see it, or they claim it right off the bat. Although if they have an old one you can trade them for the new one. All you really want is that jar and basket.. You can use that to soak your breech plug. And when the solution in that little jar is all filthy or does not seem to work, dump it down the toilet and just add a good squirt of dish soap or a cap full of Spic & Span liquid cleaner and fill the rest with water. It will soften all that fowling on the breech plugs, nipples, and hammer strikers. Then take that to the sink and turn on the tap. With a simple old tooth brush you can scrub that breech plug spotless. After that some Q-tips and alcohol will clean what you might have missed and also dries off all the liquids from teh rinsing you gave them after you take them out of the jar.

I use straignt rubbing alcohol (91%) and use those little plastic 2 or 3 Oz plastic cups you give kids juice in to soak the plug. Sure I have to reach in the alcohol to get the breech plug but that is not that messy. I use a small nail a little smaller than the hole in the breech to clean the inside of the plug with a patch. I use a tooth brush also to get stuff off the threads. Almost anything wet takes the fouling off. I like the Alcohol since it dries quick. Chap Gleason

I have used the TC breech plug cleaner which is like the Jewelry cleaner and it works ok. The best and easiest success I have had so far is a cup of hot water with a little dish soap in it. Use a brush andpipe cleaner on it in the cup and a Q-tip on it when you take it out. Pick the hole with a safety pin and blow it out dry. It takes just about a minute to get it spotless.
