Default cva optima pro trigger job

Has anyone had this done? My only complaint with this ML is the trigger is heavy.

Welcome to the Forum. It is good to have you here.

As for the trigger job, call CVA and tell them that the trigger is too heavy. They will probably ask you to send it back to them, and they will adjust it. I like the company to do the work on my rifles so that the warranty stays in effect. CVA has been real good about taking care of customer complaints.

Great advice. I just called them and the guy was really nice. He said send it back and they would adjust it for free. They will go as low as 3.5 lbs. I think that is exactly what I'll do!

3.5 will be good for target/ hunting. I have 3lbs on my winchester and even that is fairly good hair trigger. My brothers cva hawken with double set triggers is maybe a 1 1/2lbs so you have to bve careful with that rifle. Have you shot the rifle yet?

Yea..shot it a few days ago for the first time. It was shooting groups of about 1.5 inches at 100yds, which was great in my opinion...very pleased. I was shooting powerbelt 225 aerotip bullets 45 cal with 100 gr of pyrodex pellets. I just would like a lighter trigger and was thinking 3-4 pds. What do you guys think about 3.5 for a hunting rig. I want to be able to feel the trigger without worrying about it firing off, if you know what I mean.

I like a 3-1/2 pound to 4 pound trigger. In fact with my double triggers I use the set trigger and they are often times less then that. It is just a matter of practice with the trigger and get used to it and there should be no problem.

You're doing a great job with 1.5" groups. Try a heavier powerbelt if they make any heavier than 225 grain. You may also want to look at the TC maxi hunters or great plains bullets. Those seem to shoot great out of the bpi products. Cheap too.

mschviuz, I agree. Mine is between 8.5 and 9 lbs (I estimated by hanging free weights on it.) After my javelina hunt this week, I'm going to do the same thing. It's great to hear that they'll adjust them.
