Default Question on Powders

Quick question: Can the new powder pellets (like that Jim Shockey Gold) be used in the older Hawkens sidelock rifles or are they designed for the in-line rifles? I was visiting with a friend and he asked me and I didn't know....figured folks here would.

Default RE: Question on Powders

They are made for in-lines. The bolster, the part where the nipple is, on a side lock, needs granules of powder in it for the cap to ignite and thereby ignite the full charge.
