I think I have the winner: In Arizona hunt and fish license is $54.00, Tag for deer is $42.25 if drawn which is not easy to do, tag for elk is $121.50 which is near impossible unless you select muzzleloader which makes it about a 50/50 chance. Turkey is $25.50 and again must be drawn in lottery, Buffalo bull is $1,095.00 and only one per lifetime if ever drawn. If you think these are high, you should see the Non-Resident amounts. By the way we only get to shoot one deer or any other species not multipleanimals like most of the NE and southern states. I know my brother in NY can get up to three deer usually and they are just over the counter purchases. I do feel fortunate that we at least do have the elk. I prefer elk to venison and am basically a meat hunter.

Here in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, you start out with a license of 27.50 that allows you 2 Bucks any method. Doe tags are 5.00 each until they run out.You use the same deer Buck/Doe tags for all seasons.Archery 5.10 and muzzle loader 5.10. Bear 5.00 and turkey 5.00. If you fish its another 27.50 for fresh water. Salt water they get a free ride we pay for it with our license.

The first elk I shot with a muzzleloader was a huge cow that we got 375 pounds of deboned meat from. I have not seen another cow that big since. I estimate that she was around 975 pounds on the hoof. I have seen smaller bulls with decent racks. Meat lasted almost two years. I vacuum seal all the meat and it lasts more than two years in the freezer. Unfortunately I have not had an elk for two years now and the meat is getting pretty well gone. The last one was a pretty small cow only got about 200 pounds of deboned meat.

What gets me is here in Michigan the sportsmans clubs and the Michigan outdoor TV shows say we have to get the young intrested in hunting and fishing. Yet the main sportsman club MUCC is behind this push for the increases.
Unless you got to go to college and found a good job in mostly sourthen Michigan their isn't out there as far as jobs for young people.
I'm on a fixed income so to speak as I am retired. Fuel cost has doubled since I retired, food cost has raised 20% as has heating oil/natural gas. Our medical cost just took a 27% leap, plus a deductiable.
We knew we needed to go back to work to live comfortable at the rate cost were going up. So we are now beekeepers with start up cost for the last 3 years.

The typical young person out of high school no colleage works for $7.15 an hour here. Many only get 20 to 30 hours a week so the employer does not have to pay any benifits.
So at $7.15 an hour for 30 or even 40 hours a week it isn't much. Add in cost of some type of tranportion, insurance, fuel, houseing and food, How are the ypoung people supposed to be able to pay hunting and fishing fees?

Ohio residents pay 19.00 for base hunting licenses and 24.00 for an either sex deer tag. Urban antlerless tags can also be bought for 10.00 each but can only be used in certain areas designated as urban zones. Depending on which zones you hunt in the state, you could take 3 reg. deer tags and 4 urban "does". These prices have been effective for the last 2-3 years. Previously they were 15.00 for license, 20.00 for deer tags and 10.00 for urban deer. That's what it had been since I could remember. Turkey tags have always been the same price as deer tags.
