Default Which do you recommend: Black Mag or Triple 7

I have a brand new stainelessT/C Encore and haven't shot a muzzleloader in several years. I used toown a Knight BK-92 inline. It was very accurate and dependable, even thoughI was usingmusket cap ignition.

I need to choose a powder for this new rifle and I absolutely refuse to use a corrosive powder like regular black powder or Pyrodex.

Give me your thoughts on Black Mag and Triple 7. Also, is Triple 7 as non-corrosive as Black Mag or APP?

BTW, I plan on shooting sabots like Shockwaves, SST etc.

I feel like you should use Shockey's Gold, it burns cleaner. They just dont advertise like t7 or the other main ones.

Any powder is not a danger of causing corrosion to your rifle if you are cleaning them ASAP after shooting. If you're looking for a clean burning powder, and want to decide between Triple Se7en, Black Mag3, or even Shocky Gold, I would let the rifle decide. It's apparent that with the quality of firearm you purchased, a couple dollars in powder is not going to break you. Get a pound of each powder, a couple boxes of 250 grain Shockwaves or the bullet of your choice, and spend the day on the range. Let your rifle tell you what powder to shoot. The rifle will tell you which one is going to be accurate. All of them are clean burning, but you will have to swab between shots with Triple Se7en most likely. All of them should provide you with the kind of performance you want out of your rifle. Believe me the rifle will tell you. After you clean your rifle, that will also help you decide what powder YOU want to shoot. And you get to have fun spending the day on the range shooting a great rifle.

Each of us has our own opinion,I think none of the rest are as stable and dependable as Black Powder and Pyrodex.I do use and like APP but it is sensitive to moisture and if allowed to accumalate any it does shot different
Shockly Gold is a different screening and dye out of the same factory. If I could get it at a reason able price [I have to pay the hazord fee +the already to high price] I would use Black Mag 777 is more of a cleaning problem than I want to put up with in the field hunting. Since I will scrub my gun no matter what I shoot as soon as I get home I really dont care if it is eventually corrosive or not.
So my advice would be try the Black Mag if you have good access to it other wise consider good old reliable cheap Pyrodex. Lee

If you are making a decision between Tripple Seven and Black Mag'3 only, then my vote is for Black Mag'3 as I have shot both in my Omega and the Tripple Seven makes a bad crud ring that I prefer to not have to deal with. BM3 is a little harder to find but if you have a dealer that stocks it great. I also got higher velocity for the same volume of powder and less felt recoil. That may not have been a completely fair comparison as BM3 is really a fffg grain powder and the 777 I was using was ffg. But the way 777 lights off it does make for a more severe recoil and works well in shorter barrels. BM3 is a little slower and works better in longer barrels but the recoil is more of a push rather than a slap.

APP is very non corrosive compared to others and cleans up the easiest. I don't like it because it doesn't burn as nice and it's spendy. The other problem I found with it is that it doesn't fit through the powder flask. My vote goes for Pyrodex.I haven't ever tried real blackpowder and don't see a reason to. I like the price, the way it burns and the overall cleanliness and reliability of pyrodex.

If you clean your rifle every time you shoot it and oil it as well, it's not gonna corrode. No powder will prevent that though. You'll always have to clean.
