lonewolf.. real nice looking rifles there. How did you get a stock like that for your Renegade? None of mine have a the cheek piece on the stock. They sure are nice though. What did you refinish them with?

nice lookin guns!! i may have to try the tung oil. i cant get tru oil to work for crap. it turned white and cloudly lookin on me[:@]

what did you use to brown the renegade?? im looking for something to brown a barrel sometime whenever i get the money for my project gun..

cayugad...the gun with the cheek piece is a TC hawken if i aint mistaken. every renegade ive seen had steel not brass...and all the hawkens ive seen had brass and a cheek piece...could be wrong though...just looks like he labeled the pics after he posted the links to each..

here a picture on the renegade
true oil I used it for many years you must use a little and spread it with your fingers a little goes a long way always go with the grain.
I like FORMBY'S LOW SATIN TUNG OIL go with about 5 heavy coats and then steel wool 0000 down to the wood, then start with even coats going with the grain.I most of the time end up with 20 coats,I also find very easy to refinish steel wool down and recoat
I like LMF browning can be purchase at track of the wolf read and follow the instruction

LMF chemical browning works excellent I have the bottom stock (hawkens) comming in this week I seen the barrel, low serial number 45 cal. percussion
I only purchase the percussion to get my hands on the stock,I also purchase a N.O.S.45 cal. flinter barrel from the early 80's @ for my winter project it it will become a t/c hawkens flinter.the rest of the parts will go up for sale,I may refinish the percussion barrel and tang in LMF brown seem the barrel is excellent but does have blueing off in some spots.
The LMF works excellent easy to use degrease the barrel apply the chemical in even stokes the set aside for 12 hours ,then reapply LMF and sita side for another 12 hours, then card and reapply chemical amd so-on until the color of brown you want, winter project are a little tuff due to low humidity I make a sweat box using a pale of how water a light bulb and a sheet of plastic to enclose the metal parts works great

That Renegade is a beautiful piece of work. Now I want one.... And to think I almost have my wife talked into letting me get a BP shotgun for spring turkey season. Ideas, Ideas...what to do.
