Default won't be going there again

I went to the last of the "in town" gun/hunting shops today looking for some round balls. This one was last because while they have great service, they seem to never have what I need and are WAY over priced (for example a limbsaver recoil pad at walmart is 20 bucks, there it's 35).

Anyway, I went there today and they didn't have any round balls and I was told that "they can't get them because nobody shoots them any more."

Right...

So I went way out in the country to this lady that works out of her house as a gunsmith and it just so happened she had exactly what I wanted and was more than happy to sell them to me. She only had one box of them but she promised that if I need more she'll have them and also gave me a crash course on some tips.

I know where I'll be purchasing ML supplies from now on.

That small stores are sometimes a real life saver when you need special items. The thing I commend you on is doing additional business with them. That is the only way they can stay in business. Even if it cost you a few buck more on the overall purchase. Plus you develop a great information source and friend.

I use a small gun shop in the town near me. He does have a great selection, is a little more expensive, but makes up for the additional cost in personal service....

I hear ya, man.

Plus I'm sick and tired of being told to shoot Powerbelts at all the other places. You'd think some of these guys were on commission directly from that company the way they push them. I'm sure they are fantastic projectiles but I just don't want to be throwing a dollars worth of lead down the range everytime I pull the trigger while I'm still learning. A couple of sales staff couldn't grasp that. Probably the same type of guys that will use 20 dollar crankbaits while fishing hehe.

Thats what small family stores are all about. My wifes brothers own a hardware/bait shop ina small town, one of her brothers and I were at the local tire shop/garage getting new tires for the boat trailer the day after thanksgiving. One of the local good ole boys was there as well and started chatting with us saying he wanted to go Crappie fishing but didn't have any minnows and no place in town was open. My B-in-law and I took him down the road and opened up the shop and gave him a bag of minnows.
