I'm new to the forum..As a bowhunter I've stuck mostly in that Forum for the last couple of years.

I've been out of black powder for a while. Even though I got my first deer with a Flintlock Hawken some geez..20 odd years ago.

I just got a Christmas gift of a Traditions Pursuit XLT 50 caliber with the thunbhole stock. I'm interested in hearing reviews and/or loads being used on this gun.

I look forward to learning "again" from you guys as the whole muzzleloader scene has changed since the days I dabbled in 2F and 4F powders

What are your impressions of the rifle would be a better important as well as the impression of the forum. Since you already own it, you're going to shoot it. There used to be problems with the Pursuit I read about, but they have that all worked out now. They used to have bad triggers.

The most common powder charge I read about is 100 grains of Triple Se7en or Pyrodex. Either in powder or pellet form. Then people like Powerbelts, Shockwaves, XTP's, and many other projectiles. I want to state I do not own one. Almost once, but I talked myself out of it. I am sure it will be a good shooter. Follow the load recommendations of the manufacturer and the powder company, swab the barrel between shots when needed and you should be fine. Welcome back to the sport. And keep is posted as to how well it shoots and performs.

Thanks, I love the rifle..I pointed it out several times while shopping with the wife. So it wasn't a big surprise to find it under the tree. I love the TC guns but at this point couldn't swing the extra loot so I went with a copy in "feel".. The thumbhole stock is just so nice and comfortable.. I can't wait to shoot it

I'm totallythrilled and didn't need mass boardapproval..just was looking for some input..you know how it is when you get a new toy! You want everyone to know..The proof will be on the paper..(I hope) lol Thanks again
