I'm no blackpowder expert, heck I've never even shot one, but I know that has to be a piece of crap.
I wish I could remember the make and model.

If it was a sidelock.. might it have been a CVA Bobcat?

you'd be suprised! my first was $60 and shot great. Untill i broke the stock by using to big of bullets. . Its cool though, CVA replaced the entire rifle with a new up to date model. At the time.

If anyone has any questions about whether the Bobcat is crap, you might ask dmurphy317 what he thinks about it. Its a sturdy rifle, though indeed entry level.

Tell me about it, i own 2 bobcats and a mountain stalker. Cheap, but very reliable and shoot well.
I own a Mountain Stalker that is the same thing as a Bobcat. That rifle costed me $39.95 and it will shoot all day with any of the big boys out there. Bass Pro was dumping their .54 calibers and like a fool I only bought one. When I went to order more, they were all gone and all they had were .50 caliber rifle then and they had jumped the price to $69.95 and I really did not need another rifle (actually that was the third one that week).

They have a 1:48 twist. The year I bought mine was in september.. I had it tuned after just one week. 80 grains of Triple Se7en a wonder wad and a patched roundball. Early doe season I took three of them with roundball in October. Not one of them went more then 40 yards after being hit. That .54 ball is a real deer planter...

Yup almost the same. the mountain stalker has a 1:32 twist while the bobcats have a 1:48 twist. I think the mountain stalker i have also has an adjustable trigger while my bobcats are fixed. Thats an easy $15tumbler charge to being adjustable. They are great little shooters for the money.
