Default New to BP, need bullet help

Hey guys, I'm just getting into muzzleloading and needed some help. I have a T/C Black Diamond in .50 cal. I plan to shoot 100 grains of 777 pellets, but I have no idea which sabots to choose. It'll only be used to hunt deer with, and 100 yards is most likely my longest shot. What would you guys sugest?

777 loose powder is great. But I would suggest Pyrodex pellets instead. 777 pellets seem to be alot more finicky.Buy some 30-grain pellets too.... not just 50s.Reason-being is your Diamond may want 90 or 110 or 120 to obtain best accuracy. Then go buy any (2) T/C-packaged bullet designsyou like with it.Get one in 240/250 gr. --another that's different lookingin 300 grain. Your gun will tell you which it prefers.

TC barrels do vary some so you may have to do some exparimenting as the standard that will shoot in most TC muzzleloaders I suggest you try Shock Waves a lot use the 250 gr their are some who like the 300gr and some who prefer the 50/40 200 gr. All shoot with excellant accuracy out of my tc's I use them with Pyrodex or APP as I have not had very good luck with777 or Pinnicle and have not beejn able to obtain any Black Mag. Do not get locked in to any one powder or primer try other components you will not know what is best for your particular gun with out trying a range of components. Pellets are not good in some guns but work well in others loose powder is a considerably better buy. A good starting out load so that you have something as a standard to judge by is to try both pellets and loose in a 100gr Pyrodex with a 250 or 300 gr SW. Lee

My Black Diamond XR shoots best with 100 grains of loose Triple Se7en 2f and a 250 grain Shockwave. I have shot Pyrodex Pellets with it. I tried both 100 & 150 grain loads. Actually the rifle will shoot both charges. This rifle is a true 150 grain rifle. I only shoot 100 grains because I can not see the need for the extra powder and the 250 grains shockwave will do the rest.

It also shoots conicals well, and 240 grain XTP's.
