Well Made my annual migration to catch Indianas opener this past weekend..Hunt started out great, saw 23 deer total saturday passing up a small buck in the morning. Towards dark had a nice 8 come out about 100 yards in front of me. Decided he was nice enough for the $150 tag, so I put the crosshairs in front of the shoulder(he was quartering towards me) and squeezed the trigger. Trigger didnt move.....hmmm....flick safety back and forth in case it stuck or something was in there....line up crosshairs, squeeze...nada.....screw with it some more....try 3 more times, meanwhile he sees me screwing with gun.....no boom....deer finally runs off....crap.....play with safety some more gun goes boom....so I head back to sister's house....look at gun....dont see anything, dry fires fine now...I reload muzzleloader and put gun away. Next morning, same tree.....small buck chases doe across bean field...awesome! 45 minutes later, nervous doe squirts out of CRP followed by antler daddy! Awesome I think!! Deer steps into opening, rest gun on EZ hanger, place crosshairs on shoulder, take safety off, take breath.......squeeze..........nothin again! &*^*&*%^% I say...nerves start to go.....screw with safety.....ok try again.....nothing.....HOLY CRAP! This Sucks!!! Do it again, get gun back up, kinda shaky now... this time BOOM! Deer lurches......startes walking...I think crap - guts. reload....deer gets out of range before he is clear again....think he will bed down go into shock and die....well only found 4 chunks of fatty skin like meat and stiff white hair, traked by hoofprints about 400 yards - no blood, no monster, now I am left with a dysfunctional rifle, a memory and a sick feeling in my gut that wont go away....All Knight says is send in trigger assembly, just wish I could turn back time......I guess there is a first time for everything, never lost one like that before, if the gun would have went off when I first tried to shoot............[/align]

I had the trigger on my Wolverine do the same thing. I took it off, got a cheap can of brake cleaner at Wal Mart, and sprayed theh devil out of it. Over time the Timney triggers accumulate dust, grease, anti seize, powder, you name it, and it all seems to gather in that trigger. One reason why I remove the trigger when I clean the rifle. All of a sudden the rifle will not fire and sometimes will not cock on the pull cock models.
I sprayed that trigger until the brake cleaner ran clear out of it then shook it real good. Took it to an air compressor and using as much PSI as it could muster, blew the trigger assembly out as well as possible. After that I gave it a light spray of Sheath and it worked like a charm again.
Every couple times now, I pull that trigger and spray it out and then hit it with an air compressor again. Just to be on the safe side. If your triggers come out, it is not a bad idea to clean them like that. Just be careful with the brake cleaner if your trigger has a plastic trigger... Then I would take it to a sink and scrub it in some hot dish water, rince it in as hot a water as your fingers can stand, then air compressor it out and oil it back up..
Hope you get another chance at a big buck...

I believe timney makes thier triggers. I really never oil mine. Maybe a shot or two of light rem oil once every few year. Oil seems to cause issues with grime building up.
Problem with ML is you take them apart and they are dirty creatures by nature.
I've hunted with my Disc Extreme (same trigger mechanism) since 2002 in all conditions and never once had a failure. That is weird. I'd send it back since it could have a defect.
Had a similiar situation happen with a buddies Wolverine about 15 years ago...I had cleaned it with alcohol and failed to lube...It wouldn't go off for him on a doe...After lubing, it worked fine...Lesson learned...

How old is this gun?The answer may lieon how often it's been fired& where's it's beentaken to.
Could this be cleaning-neglect on your part & not a gun defect? Besides cleaning & lightly oilingthe trigger occasionally, do you completely disassemble, clean & oilthe bolt-action parts and action slides after each use?
Did you check for indentations in your 209 primers - perhaps those captured moisture &have failed?

To the first Question: 1 Year Old, First year hunting, only been to the range twice....fortunate to have it shoot great from the getgo!
Part 2: I thouroughly cleaned and lightly oiled 2 days prior to leaving for trip...
Part 3: Trigger would not Break..period.... like it was hung on the safety and not working mechanically maybe caused by somethingsuch as a burr....I will investigate more thouroughly tonight...when the trigger broke it fired beautifully. I was just frazzled by the time it said BOOM! If it would have went off the first time like it should this would be a success story in my mind, I am capable and so is the gun, proven at the range, I didnt get buck fever until after the fact that it wouldnt go off. As far as having crud in there it SHOULDNT have had any, it was clean......

Seeing that information Carpmaster.. that rifle would be sent back to Knight with a letter explaining all of this. I am sure there is an easy fix to all of this and Knight has a great customer service.

I have been shooting Knights for about 10 years and I have never had a trigger problem. However I wash, dry and Remoil my triggers every time I clean my rifles.
But like cayugad said Kinght has great customer service...they'll fix you up.
Any chance your second safety rolled forward? This may happen during or after sighting in, as recoil seems to move it forward a little. Happened to me once in practice. Got to get in the habit of checking to see if it is completely rearward, or jamming it with a plastic tie or something. I tried loc tite once, but had a hard time getting my bolt apart with only hand pressure. Won't do that again.
Another idea is turn your rifle upside down when cleaning the chamber, so grit doesn't fall into the trigger group.
Please let us know if it was a safety or trigger problem when you get to the bottom of it. Where the primers struck?
