Default 1st Muzzleloader experience

I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for several months now and have learned a lot. New Encore this season and have 2 shots and 2 very dead deer -- 250 grain shockwaves. This gun is awesome!!!

My question is -- can anything be done about the rub marks caused by opening and closing the action? I have the satinless with the black synthetic stock.

Sabots,
Welcome to the Encore SST/Shockwave 250 crowd. A devastating combination.

I have tried 200 grain shockwaves, but they were not nearly as accurate. Perhaps with a different powder load.

Anyway, my gun is probably the same or similar. Stainless w/ black thumbhole stock and a nikon monarch 4.5 to 15.

As far as the rub marks, on mine you only see them when the gun is open. So, they really don't bother me too much. You could buff them out, but then you would have shiney marks. If you have to do something, I guess you could have a gunsmith beadblast the barrel for you, that way it would have a satin finish and cover the shiney marks, until they come back. If you shoot yours as much as mine, it will develop a character all its own anyway.

Good luck.
