Default Old CVA ML recall, just found out!

We just found out that the ML we bought my dad for his birthday last month is one of the recalled models from 95&96. We called CVA this morning and they siad don't shoot it don't let anyone else shoot it, box it up and send it back to us immideitly and we will send you a brand new one for free. I am glad that we found out but a little sad because the laminated wood stock fit my dad so well he thought we had it custom made for him it felt that nice. We sent it out right away, I hope they have a speedy turn around time so he can still go out this ML season.
At last the quetion, does anyone know what the recall is really for, the guy on the phone at CVA wouldn't tell all he said was that there had been some "incedents" .

Update for you... That recall has been out for Years! I still see them advertise the warning update on the hunting channel at times.

It's probably an Apollo you had. The Apollo has breech plug problems and liked to blow up in your face. Really kind of ruined your day.

My brother and I have only been shootin MLs for about a yr and we're trying to get my father started so we are by no means up to date on much any thing to do with the ML world. I don't have a tv, this here computer's really my only contact with the outside big world. My brother and I really feal kind taken by our sport shop, selling a ML with a known problem like that.

Thanks cayugad for giving me the low down behind the recall, and your right it was an Apollo.

Thats why I like this forum, honest answers from real people.

A friend of mine had one of the recalled guns back when the recall first happened. They sent him a new barrel with instructions to destroy the old barrel. It may be possible that the gun you bought had a replacement barrel already on it. CVA should be able to check the serial number on the barrel to verify if it is a replacement or not.

Good luck either way.

It will be interesting to guess what kind of rifle they replace the Apollo with. I will guess a Buckhorn Magnum. Any other guesses out there?
