First off you need to find out what the regulations are in the state or province in which you hunt in terms of Muzzleloaders. Inline, sidelock, flinter, etc are types of ML's so you need to know which ones you can use then determine which is the best for your budget and situation. Some of the things you to find out are: ignition type limitations(#11, musket, 209, etc), powder limitations (BP and or subs, smokeless), projectile limitations (sabots legal or not), scoped (limitation like red dot or 1x) or strictly iron, season for which you'll use the ML and so forth.

Once you figure out what you can use then you can determine guns, budget, etc

Muzzleloaders are all about style. I have two different styles. One, I like to shoot like a rifle in swamps and take 150 yard shots, (hense the knight elite and T/C encores), two, I like the tradition and and nice wood of a sidelock (hense the t/c hawken).

You ahve to decide what you want.

I live in MD and here I know that inline ML are legal in their own season. As far as primers, and smokeless powder I have no idea. I do need to find that out. You can use scopes on them as well, and you can use sabots. If I am mistaken please anybody, let me know. And if anybody is in baltimore county let me know some good public places (if there are any)

Well, I dont' believe smokeless is legal. But I know alot that uses it. Scopes and sabots and all are legal. I recommend the T/C line or the Knight lines.

As far as hunting, gunpowder is about all you got, and it is lottery only. I suggest the Chesapeake lands they just opened up in Dorchester and few more Eastern shore counties. Good hunting, I hear. I put in for lottery for Patapsco lands and few more in Carroll county.
