Default Breachplug Cleaning and Sights

Guys I have an Austin & Halleck Mountain Rifle .50 cal that I want to start shooting but with my old eyes I can't see the buckhorn sight / silver blade combo very well so until I can come up with a good open sight combo for this gun i've just been saving it. I need a recommendation for sights and was wondering if you "Hawken" guys remove and clean the breachplugs on these guns like you do an inline? Thanks for the info!

For the most part I do not think anyone removes the breech plug on sidlelocks, although there are a few that have that option.

I have the same eyesight problem so I have gone to fiber optic sights. They really light up for me.

Don't wait long ordering anything from this site below. If you are not aware, they have suspended operation there& closing out all MLs and components. Fiber optic sights for your Mountain Rifle are still available. I would suggest buying a pair of sights -- for backup in case they get damaged by overhanging tree limbs.

I just checked the site 777 and they don't have the sights listed in their current inventory so it may be too late for those. The price they have listed for their remaining Mtn Rifles is awesome though so if anybody wants one now's the time!

Copy & paste the names of those sights over at Google.com search page. You may get lucky there finding a store that has them in stock.
