Triple Seven Granular Vs. Pellets

Can anyone tell me with certainty which causes less fouling (crud ring), granular or pellets of Triple Seven? Or is there no definite advantage of one over the other in this regard? Thanks.

There is not really any advantage of one over the other. They both will make fowling. You can reduce the fowling by the kind of primer you use. I guess ifI had to pick, I would go after the loose. Granted I only shot off one box of the Triple Se7en pellets in 50 grain. And they shot great. I also shot a box of Pyrodex pellets and they shot great.

I shoot a lot of loose powder all the time. It just is more cost effective for me. Although I have to admit, playing with the pellets was a lot of fun...

In my T/C inline, no real noticeable difference. If you plan on being a seldom shooter after the hunting season, pellets are convenient. But make sure you buy a box of 30 grain and 50 grain to best tweak your load. Myself and poster Cayugad shoot all year-long... sometimes with our sidelocks too. So we find loose powder to be most cost effective & a must when using our side-hammer guns..

Get Winchester 777 primers.. and you won't have a crud ring w/ the pellets or loose powder.

No crud ring, since I went to Pyrodex. Pellets - either Pyrodex or 777 - are overpriced; so is 777, generally.

i shot both i like the 777 loose and a cci 209.

Can't tell any difference. Frankly, to my knowledge, I've never seen a crud ring in my Omega shooting both 777 pellets and loose powder using the Remington Kleanbore primers. I swab between every shot with 50:50 windshield washer fluid and alcohol, so I have never had a problem with the dreaded crud ring.
