Default Barnes Tmz

I recently purchased a knight disc elite 50 cal. and I am wondering if anyone has shot the tmz line of bullets with the disc elite muzzleloader. I can purchase 250 grain tmz bullets locally and would have to order larger grains. I plan on using the muzzleloader for deer hunting, 777 ffg for powder and shooting at a maximum of 130-150 yards. I am currently using 250 grain expander mz's with 2 777 pellets in my knight wolverine and have had good luck with those bullets. I would greatly appreciate any information anyone could provide regarding both bullets listed above or any other loads that work well for shooting deer with the disc elite. Thank you in advance.

I haven't seen the TMZ for sale. But I hear they are going to be pricey. I myself am very happy with expanders out to 150 yards.

But guess I got to give the TMZ's a try.

From what I've seen, the TMZ is running about $3 more per pack than the expanders. Cabelas sells them in packs of 24 for $20.99. The Expanders are$17.99. I haven'ttried them myself, but the reviews I've read have been favorible.I have heard though that the expander does have a wider velocity rangein which it gives reliable expansion, compared to the TMZ.

I have a DISC extreme and the regular Barnes Expanders with 100gr 777 work great. I have also used the Barnes Spitzers, but not the TMZ's. They do cost a little more, but once you are sighted in, it is still less than $1 a deer. The difference between the regular expanders and the spitzers is about an inch at 100yd. I don't spend an inordinate amount of time at the range sighting in, I figure if my shots are inside a 5" circle at 100yd, ain't no deer can survive that.

You can buy the TMZs, Knight Brand, at Cabelas for $16.95 for 30. They are the same as the Barnes, just cheaper. They have both 290 & 250gr for the same price. I just bought some a couple of weeks ago.

I hear you bigcountry! I'm just glad I live in a "lead only" state otherwise I'd have to add to my stash of all lead conicals and sabots too ...

I know what you mean, I'm in the same boat. I've ordered so many different kinds that my wife has even given up on complaining about it, and I didn't ever think that would happen. Of course when you buy a different kind you JUST HAVE TO GO SHOOT AGAIN. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it!!!
