Default omega with 150 grains!

just to let people know i have started using three 50 grain pellets this year using a 245 grain powerbelt (green tip) and having tremendous accuracy. i tried doing what the book called for as far as bullet selection (shockwave) and it was all over the place, and when your shooting that kind of powder the less shots the better, so maybe this advice will save some shoulder injuries.....good luck

Have you harvevested any game yet with that load? For the few rifles that will shoot regular Powerbelts well with a charge that heavy, there is still the issue of the bullet not really being designed to function well at the higher impact velocities. I would expect bullet blow up on anything except a broadside rib shot.

Try 130 grains of 2F Jim Shockey Gold with the 250 Shockwave. I'm getting great groups out of my Omega and almost 2300 fps. Don't swab between shots - just load 'em and shoot 'em.

As with roskoe, I'd tame the load for game as powerbelts are little more than conicals with a bit of copper on them; without the weight there to keep it penetrating it might be less than ideal for other than accuracy.

I have been using 100 grains of pyrodex with a 245 grain powerbelt in my Omega and get great accuracy and absolutely devastaing effect on deer. I am too happy with 100 grains to even think about timkering with 150.

I as well am haveing great success with 100grns of powder and 250 shockwave in my omega. I recently quit 150grns to 100 because of recoil and killing power on deer out to 250yds was still good with 100 grns.

In a majority of situations, what you exhibited is just the opposite of what normally occurs. Usually, the Powerbelt will falter with 150 grains & the Shockwave will have better success.

Yours is a perfect example on what's so nice about this shooting sport. We can all expect the unexpected working up loads for our MLs.
