I've got a Lyman Great Plains Hunter, 54Cal that I'd like to replace the nipple with a Hot-Shot nipple. does anyone know which size will fit? I thinks it's the 1/4 X 28 but I'm not sure and hate to order the nipple and get the wrong size.

I'd also like to find something to protect the fiber-optic sight on the end of my barrel. I seen the plastic attachment that Cabela's has, but it's for round barrels and I'm not sure it would fit my Lyman since it's got the flat landings.
Any suggestions?
I know it's just a matter of time b/f I whack that sight on something and break it off.
