Roskoe seems to have coined this phrase but I think I may have it. Of course I will deny it to the end.
I bought another rifle the end of last week and expect delivery tomorrow. I have bought 6 in the last 18 months and now have 7 total. I am also planning on getting another barrel for my GPR this year.
In my defense, I only "own" 3 of them, a Magbolt 50, a Lyman GPR 54 and a Bobcat 50.I have 2 sons that most of the rifles are for. the 13 year old has a Bobcat 50and an Optima 50. The 15 year old has a Bobcat 54 and the new rifle which is an Apex SS50.
I came across the Apex on an auction and got it for a pretty good price. My son has an elk hunt coming up and if we can get it shooting good enough he will use it. If not, my gun is ready to go.
So maybe I don't have Cayugad's disease. What about you?

When did I become synonymous toa disease? I will have you know, I sold a GMBbarrel this month to a fellow forummember, sold two other rifles to friends of mine for their young boys to learn the sport with, have plans to give a very nice Hawkins away to my nephew this Christmas when they visit me, and did not even buy a rifle last week when I had a golden opportunity. So you guys are going to have to pick on someone else from now on. I'm moving towards the light..
I will be interested to learn how well the Apex shoots for you. Good luck with the new rifle and elk hunting as well...

My disease is mild in retrospect. Not to avoid a conflict of boredom by purchasing MLs that are eerily similar, I made my purchases with a plan. I started buying all the different twists in 50-cal first like
1-66"
1-48"
1-28"
for a nice variety.....
then I purchased MLs in calibers for variety like
45-cal
50-cal
54-cal
58-cal
Being I had all the bases covered outside of muskets and flintlocks that I have no desire to ever purchase, I called it quits.
Now if I sell one out of my collection, I replace it with another from my list. The problem I have now is - what I'm replacing is usually an upgrade -- so it's more expensive.

Yeah; who got one of the Sportsmans Warehouse White rifles before I could find one? It may not be a disease but lets see; I bought an Omega just to hunt elk once a year. Now I own a T/C Hawken .54, have a GM .50 barrel for it (oversize because the .54 is bigger diameter), a Lyman Trade Rifle flintlock, a .45cal underhammer pistol, an NEF Huntsman .50, and wish I had jumped on one of the Whites. Even if it isn't really a disease; and I probably did not get it from Cayugad, but I caught some kind of bug somewhere.

Got two at first, then when Dad got drawn for a ML Elk tag in Oregon, had to get him one too. I think that last one was one of the last 3-4 left at Sportsmans.

Are you on a 12 step program for your symptoms? I can help with some of those steps, just send me a few of those excess MLers and you will be cured.
I too came close to being infected by the White virus. The only thing that saved me was a previous GPR infection that had got to me months earlier. By the time I got medicated the Whites were all gone. BTW Cayugad, note the earlier treatment plan,send the White now and we can both be cured.
Sorry about picking on you, your collection just makes most of us jealous.

Yeah dmurphy317 I hear you. After picking up one of the White UMs I'm getting the traditional ML itch now! One of those round ball shooting Lyman percussion rifles seems to be just up my alley one of these days. Hehehehe.
But heck, I'm a little jealous of Cayugad's stash too - but am also grateful he has so many MLs and projectiles ... afterall, how else is he going to help newbies like me learn about this or that combo?!?!
