Default Barnes Bullets

I did the unthinkable waiting for ML season to come back in. I bought different unproven bullets. I bought the Barnes 250gr hollow point. Calling these things hollow points is an understatement however. How many of you have taken game with these? I am kinda worried they will expand too much too fast and tumble on entrance of an animal.

I usually use XTP's. But its never been too devistating on deer, especially hit in the shoulder.

I use the Barnes 325 grain hollow points in my .54 TC.. Man, they knock the stuffing out of the game. They expand really well and penetrate too.. It keeps almost 100% of its weight and opens up into six sharp hard points. The thing is hardened copper but is designed to peal back too. They are very accurate in my TC also. Honestly, I don't think there is a better MZ bullet..

Well, I had a chance to fire these bad boys. With my 95gr of Pyrodex that I usually shoot the 240gr XTP's and get 2" groups at 100 yards, I tried the same for these. These are 250gr Barnes. They only grouped about 3.5" to 4". Didn't have time to try different loads. Since these sabots are so hard to push down and the extra 10gr, I think I should try dropping my load to 90 or 85gr of pyrodex. What do you guys think. Really don't want to drop any more velocity.

I guess I am just bored. been shooting balls, maxiballs and these XTP for 5 years now.
