Default Cornmeal with Hollow Based projectiles

What would happen If I were to try cornmeal with a Ball-et or Great Plains? I might go test it this weekend or next but I was wondering what you guys think about it with hollow base projectiles.

Somehollow base bullets - even sabots, shoot better with some-sort of wad. A perfect example is the plastic sub-bases offered from places like Precision Bullet Co. My 50-cal Buffalo S.S.B hollow Harvesterplastic sabot tightens shot groups with a 54-cal fiber wonderwad.

The rule of thumb with granule wads like Cornmeal or Cream Of Wheat has been to start with 10 grains & you shouldn't need over 20 if it's working for you.A couple of posters that I know who use either one have settled on 15 grains.

It would be interesting to see the results. I will look forward to your reports.

Anyone have any experience with using cornmeal in a hunting load. The reason I ask is I usually load my gun at the first of a hunt and don't shoot until I see game or come to the end of the hunt. Would 4-5 days of carrying the gun around in the mountains possible see a shift in the cornmeal and affect accuracy? My first inclination is no, but I shoot powerbelts, and since they are slightly less than bore width, they stand a chance of shifting in the barrel.

Any thoughts or experiences?

For sure I will try this with the Buffalo Ball-ets and maybe Great Plains and roundballs.

txhunter58, yes I have used the cornmeal solution for hunting it has worked fine for me . The only load I use with PB is the 250 copper for varmit hunting so far no problem but I do check to make sure the PB is still down all the way once in a while;but I check sabots for that to. Lee
