Default KIK powder

How is the performance of KIK powder? Relative to Goex, GoexExpressand Swiss what should one expect? It can be purchased alot cheaper than Goex, is it a good value?

I've shot some in the past and I have a couple pounds of it now in 3f that I am trying with different loads. I find it almost identical to Goex. I still have a lot of shooting I want to do with it, but so far it looks real good... About as dirty as Goex too.

I have been using KIK powder for about one year. I find it to pack a bit more enery, per equal volume, than Goex. There have been a couple of side by side comparisons done by some parties and according to that data, KIK has about 10-12 percent more energy, per equal volume, than Goex. You can probably find these results with a web search.

Ialso find it to be a bit cleaner burning, leaving softer fouling than Goex. I have a couple of .45 cal rifles that I used to use Fffg Goex in, and switching to an equal measure of KIK Ffg produced almost identical POIs and left about the same amount of fouling in the barrel as the Goex Fffg.

I use KIK Ffg in my rifles of .45cal and up and KIK Fffg in my .32cal & .40cal rifles. Overall, I find it to be an excellent, consistant powder which offers performance close to Swiss, at a price less than Goex. In fact, I seen it referred to as "the poor man's Swiss" several times on the internet. IMO, it offers the best performance per dollar of any blackpowder.

Uh oh!

Now I've gotta try some. Only I'm gonna have to shoot up at least 1 lb of the 2 lbs of Goex I have to get it past the mrs. Thanks cayugad and sabinajiles for your comments.
