Default T/C customer service: Hit or miss?

Guess lots of folks have had good luck with T/C customer service, but count me as one that is on the side that they are lacking. Here are the facts of my case:

1) I have had tremendous trouble getting my Omega to shoot conicals well

2) Called them. Didn't want to give me any advice on the phone, just wanted me to send the gun in, so I did

3) Wrote a detailed info sheet that said that I only hunt Colorado, so I canONLY shoot conicals, and detailed the trouble I have had getting my gun to shoot CONICALS, in spite of the fact that my brother and a friend bought identical Omegas at the same time and they shoot conicals great. Left my home, work and cell phone numbers as well as my email address and asked them please to call me if they had any questions.

4) Got my gun back with just a short note: "100 gr. pyrodex, 250 grain shockwaves, 1-3/4" group at 100 yards.

5) Called and talked with the technichian that worked on my gun. Bottom line he told me was: "The Omega is a sabot gun". Guess all Omega owners that hunt Colorado should sell their gun? Anyone out there want to buy a real accurate "sabot" gun??

6) He did let me talk to his supervisor who had some suggestions to try with the gun, but stated that he would be glad to have me send the gun back to them to his attention personally and he would see what he could do. Would have been nice had we had that conversation before they returned the gun.

I am going to try some of his suggestions (smaller size T/C maxiballs with pyrodex +/- a bore button and see what happens. Was also thinking about trying Goex pinnacle. Anyone think that might help? Thanks

Pinnacle will not be the answer for you. Have you tried the 460 grain No Exucuse with about 80 grains of Triple Se7en or Goex? I shoot them out of my Black Diamond XR and they do very well to 100 yards.

80 grains of 777 and 460 grain no excuses gives me 8 inch groups at 25 yards! Tried 80,85,90,95, 100, 105,110 grains 777 with no excuses. Have not tried pyrodex though. And I am going to try the new platinum 338 powerbelts with 80-100 grains of 777. Those are my next totry along with themaxiballs.

txhunter58,

Sorry to hearthat T/C isn't helping you. I know you don't have time for it, but it would be interesting to see if you and your hunting friends can duplicate T/C's claims that your Omega shoots 1 3/4" groups at 100 yards with shockwaves. I assume that they did that with your fiber optic sights?

I sure hope you find a combination that works soon. You know, if it were me, I would consider finding another weapon to take to Colorado. Not necessarily purchasing one, but maybe borrowing one. Were I not using mine in the same season, I would gladly lend you mine.Even if you purchased a "cheapie" and sold it upon returning for less than you paid for it, its a small expense in the context of the total cost of your hunting trip, even in the context of the probably 100 to 250 you have already invested in powder and bullets trying to get the Omega to accurately shoot a legal hunting projectile.

Keep us posted on your progress and good luck.

Happy Hunting, Phil

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am ahead of you. My brother is bow hunting this year, so I am going to use his Omega. Shoots powerbelts great (I am considering using the new platinum 338 grains because they shoot well out of his gun) and his gun has no crud ring (mine is bad). So, although I would really rather shoot my gun,I am not really in a bind, but sure could be.

As far as shooting the shockwaves, I would need you to come show me how! I have never shot a sabot through the gun since I use it for Colorado. Was kind of surprised that they did not send me the target they shot. I suspect that they use a scope and a vise to shoot them, but don't know for sure. What I sent them was a rear Williams peep and a front fiberoptic sight.

Use the powerbelts then. I shoot them in everything from my.50 pistol to my .50 flintlock rifle.

Frontier: I am hunting in the southwest corner of the state north of Cortez. By the way, MY gun does NOT shoot powerbelts well, only in my brother's gun. Thus the problem.
