I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "how much weight...", but I WAS shooting a 295 gr Remington JHP in a sabot, but now that I have a White Ultra Mag, I will be shooting either a 400 or 460 gr conical with either 75 or 80 gr of loose T 7.

I've shot as light as 180 grains.. actually 177 grainsif you count roundball, and as much as 560 grain conicals. Triple Se7en is a great powder. Your rifle will determine what will shoot best. Some sabots I shoot are as big as 405 grain FP in .458 diameter, again with excellent accuracy.

Alot depends on what your rifle likes; but when you have a rifle like my Omega which will shoot under 3 inchs with almost anything and under 2 inches with most sabot loads and a ragged hole with any Shock Wave and some XTPs why not shoot shoot the best combo of these for a combo of accuracy, range and energy enough to do the job. To me that sort of narrows it down to 250 Shock Wave or 50/40 - 200gr Shock Wave the sectional density is comparable but the bonded Shock Wave in 250gr. really impressed me when I shot it through a wild boar diagonally; so for me the 50/40 200gr at 2300 fps for Deer and the 250gr bonded for Elk, Boar and Bear @ 2150fps. If I ever decieded to go elephant hunting I would use a 460gr NE. Lee
