Default Omega Rings & Scope Obj Diametr

Need a little help: What is the max scope obj diameter for theTC rings, max objective diameterfor medium rings and high rings? Will a 44 AO obj scope (like the Conquest) go well onmedium TC rings or do I have to go tohigh rings??

All med rings are not the same.. one brand will set a scope higher/lower than another brand.. even if it's minimal... not to mention that even though the scope objectiveis 44mm...the outer diamter of the scope canvary widelu. I have a 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaff on my Omega.. mounted on a Weaver base w/ Burris steel rings. I have plenty of clearance ( could easily fit a 44mm scope).. and may have been able to get away w/ low rings.. but I prolly would have had issues reaching the hammer due to scope clearance.

So I'd test fit the rings/scope before final mounting.. I know this isn't really possible when you have to order the parts in.

All rings and bases are not created equal in both dimensions and quality.

I would highly recommend the Leupold QR (Quick Release)base and rings.
Base P/N: 52325 (Matte)
High rings P/N: 49979 (Matte)

With a 44mm objective,I would leantowards thehigh rings. I have the high rings on one of my Omega's with a 36mm Objective scope. I could have easily gone with low or medium rings, but the high rings gives you a little more room to access the hammer. A handy feature if you wear gloves.

The QR high rings are not so high as you feel like you are reaching for the eyepiece. I did try the medium rings on my other Omega and I can hardly tell the difference sighting-wise with the eyepiece.

Your QR ring heights are:
.65" = Low
.77" = Medium
.90" = High

If you go with the medium rings and determine that they are too low for the scope and/or hammer access, Leupold will exchange them for the high rings so long as the mediums have not been mounted (in other words, justlock them on the mountand place your scope in the bottom rings. Don't tork the rings in place.Leupold told me theycan tell if you have mounted the rings).

Good luck!

I just bought an all-camo Omega and mounted a Leupold QR base on the gun. Put on a Nikon Omega (just came out) 3-9 x 40mm scope on the gun with Leupold Medium rings and there is no room for anything larger. I only have about 1/16" clearance between the bell of the scope and the barrel - FYI.

I figured a 44mm would require the high rings.

Please post your impression on the Nikon Omega. I'm typically a Leupold/Zeiss preferance but always looking for a nice scope of some flavor. I do like the Nikon Monarch Series although the only Monarch I had was on a 270Win that I sold with the rifle.

I just mounted a Bushnell Elite 3200---3-9 X 40 mm on my Omega. I used Leupold med. height rings and bases (fixed dovetail type) and they were VERY close, nearly no scope clearance. I like a low mounted scope but there isn't much room between the hammer and the scope. Works but I sure wouldn't want it any closer.
