Default Can someone please help me out here

When loading a hornady .530 roundball and an Ox Yoke .015 patch it is really tought to load. They are pre-lubed with natural lube. Even the first shot was tought. My Ball-ets and Hornady Great Plains loaded alot better. Do you think it might load better now after I did that big scrub?

Just to be clear, is itdifficult to "Start" or to"load" ?

If it's a starting problem, do you use a short starter?

If it's a loading problem, doyou use a flexible or stiff ramrod?

I would think the scrubbing would make things a little better...

As Roundball said, are you using a short starter? All my roundball rifles require a short starter. And some are stiff to load when you first start out, but it gets easier on the way down. If it is real tight all the way down, then reduce your patch size since you're at a .530 patch already... Also try adding a little more lube. Some of those pre lubed have sat on a store shelf a while and they dry out. Just smear a little lube on them and see if that does not help.

I use a short starter and a stiff ramrod. It is just a little ruff on the way down. These patches are lubed pretty good. I think the cleaning will help since I got alot of crud out of the barrel. I have a .530ball and a .015 patch. I tried a .010 patch that I could load really easily and thumb start. I will try both next time I go out and shoot. I do not know if I could get good accuracy out of a .530 ball and a .010 patch. We will see next time I shoot.

no expert on patchs, but the tighter patch the better it should shoot.just my opinion but cayugad/roundball are better on that than me.

Are these lubed patches new or really old. Might just need some more lube added or.............................go buy some [.015] pillow ticking and spit.
