Default more questions ?????

working up loads ?
read the book, read & printedyer guy's posts, i will carefully clean and prepare my 50 cal tradititions caplock. getting all the needed acceseries together. i'll be very carefull ta avoid shortstarting (got marker tape)

so far i've had great success with my cap&ball revolver. no FTF's and 2 inch groups dead center at 10 yards with more distance planned fer future testing.

i got 100 round balls and 50 PA conicals
gonna use pyro-p fer the RB's and T777ffg fer the conicals

questions
1) pillow tickling or cotton patches fer the RB's?????????

2)powder volume ???????? book has data fer pyro-p...is all pyro-p fffg granulation ???????????? book shows minimum loads at 40 grs and maximum at 120 grs fer all powders fer my cal/barrel length. it say's best accuracy (wich is what i want) is usualy achieved at around .75% of max. that seemed about right fer my 44calpistol as 25 grs pyro-pis doing very well.

im thinking my best load fer the RB's/pyro-p should be between 50 and 90 gr's with no reason ta go over 100

and fer the PAconicals/T777ffg it should be between 50 and 80 gr's with no reason ta go over 90

am i on the right track here ?????????????

Pillow Tick is cotton. It's 100% cotton. Some like it because it mics out a little more then store purchased cotton patchs, plus we use our own lube, and it's cheaper in the long run. Since you're starting out, just purchse some pre lubed Ox Yoke (is a good brand), T/C (I think made by Ox Yoke), or any other .015 thick brand and you should be all right. As you get more used to the rifle you can experiment. Jus try and center the ball in the patch.

is all pyro-p fffg
Yes, Pyrodex P is pistol grade powder or FFFg grade. Pyrodex RS is rifle & shotgun or FFg grade powder.

I'm thinking your on the right track there. I was shooting my hawkins today with 90 grains of FFFg Goex and it shot excellent.

sounds about right. I think you will find 75-80 grains as the magic number there.

I'd say you're well on the way. And you are about to find out how much fun you've been missing out on .... Good luck.
