Default Jaeger Range Report

Went to the range yesterday to find a load for the new .73 Jaeger and to adjust the sights.

All shots were fired at the top bullseye. The first three, (lowerright) were at 50 yards before adjusting the sights. The top center (in black) was at 50 yardsafter sight adjustment, and the top right(in black) was at 100 yards after sight adjustment. Both shots in the black were with 150 grains of Swiss FFg with the .735" ball and .010 T/C greased patch, which produced an instrumental velocity at 10" of 1470 FPS. That's fast enough for me!

This gun is going to shoot better than I can aim it with those open sights....

that's some great shooting... and with that kind of speed, there is little that can take a hit from that big roundball. How was the recoil with that rifle?

Thanks, cayugad. According to the one online recoil caluclator I still have bookmarked, (http://www.biggameinfo.com/RecoilCalc.aspx) with 150 grains of BP and tha 597.5 grain ball @ 1470 FPS, it shows the recoil of a 9.5 pound riufle to be 83 Ft/Lb. However, it does not FEEL that bad. It is much more pleasant to shoot than say my CZ .416 Rigby weighing 10 pounds. Perhaps that big fat bulbous buttplate spreads the recoil around. It is more of a shove than a jab. In fact, the flash, smoke & muzzle blast get your immediate attention, more so than the recoil! However, I DO NOT intend to increase the powder charge any!

This rifle's lock time is so fast, I noticed no real delay at all. Must have lucked out & got the touch hole in the exact, right spot! Using the White Lightning liner also helps a lot.
