long time viewer, first time poster. just wondering if anyone has or new a place that i could get some plans to make my own inexpensive shootin bench. thanks in advance. also just wanted to say thanks for all your great posts. they were a great help for me when i purchased my first muzzleloader in oct. of 05 and figured out loads to get it sighted in. now i to am an addict.
There are a lot of plans out there on the interent. The difference is whether you want a portable shooting bench or a stationary shooting bench. I built a rolling table bench, but I have seen some excellent ones that people have made.. I am sure they will be more then glad to share pictures and plans with you...

Thanks Cayugad and Gutpile. I been just using folding table and sand bags. Works all right just a little crude. Setting up a small range in a pasture here at our farm were i have 50, 100, and 150 yards marked out and just move my target. Thanks again this forum is very helpful and full of very knowledgeable people.
Since it sounds like you are going to have a more permanent type shooting range, as I do. This is what I made. I used some old left over deck posts. And then some ruff cut cedar boards, a friend ran out on his saw mill from my trees. I also mounted castors on the feet so I could push this around when necessary. I wish I had now ran a small simple straight axle and put larger wheels on the feet as it would have made the bench not bog down in the soft grass and dirt...
the simple bench seat locks to the leg and can be removed. I adjust the height by simple boards under the foot. This way anyone can use the bench no matter their height. The shelf under the main table holds the home made shooting rest.
So far this works great for me. It doubles as a fish cleaning table, and work in the garden table when I have to clean vegetables... Since I can move it all over, I move the table instead of the target since I shoot into a steel bullet trap...

this is the portable target stand I just built out of CPVC 3/4 pipe. It is light weight, seems to buck the wind good, and can be moved about anywhere. This might work well in your case as well..

I posted a couple of different plans on this black powder forun some time in Febuary (I think?). I'm not able to find that post again to bring it to the top.
My shooting bench is a booger bench. It cost me $16.43 for the folding table legs at Lowe's. I have seen the legs many places ACO hardware stores for one. The top was some scrap OSB. OSB will work well and last a long time if kept dry so seal it good with paint or some thing. I used Beur stain Fence and Siding solid. It was OOPs stuff I paid $5.00 a gallon for.
