RE: Black powder vs Triple 7
When I started this post I wasn't sure and was thinking of going to a sub.
but now when the moment of truth comes I want black powder.
I think I will use the subs to practice with and save my BP for hunting.

Triple seven all the way. The biggest difference I have found is easier cleanup. Have not had any issues with moisture but I tape the end of the barrel after loading and put a small piece of tape on the nipple at the end of the day as well.

I am very blessed to live where I can easily get black powder. The only sub I have tried is Pyrodex, and to me it is not quick as black powder in my sidelock.
I live where you can easily get a humid day, even in December. I tried keeping a load in my gun for a whole week until I was able to hunt again the next weekend. When I finally went to shoot and empty the gun I had a nasty hang fire. After that hang fire, I went back to emptying my gun at the end of each days hunt.
If blackpowder becomes hard to come by, I'm sure I will spend the extra money and try the Triple 7.

I have heard that 777 cleans up easily, but what makes it easier to clean up from real black powder? I use real Goex Black Powder, and I find no difference in clean up, from the subs. ( I used to use them)Either way my ML barrelis going into a bucket of hot water for a complete cleaning. I don't trust just running a few patches thru the barrel with a bore cleaner such as T/C's # 13. I really don't find a good cleaning in the hot water all that bad. I enjoy bringing my ML back to looking and performing like new when cleaning.
