Default Bullet Weight and accuracy

Just how close are the bullets supposed to be to advertised weight. I just weighed a box of No-excuses and found the 460 grains to be closer to 455 for most of the bullets. Just curious how much impact this will have. Within the box most are weighing in withing 2 grains. Being primarily an archery guy I watch projectile weight closely. Also does the amount of lubricant have impact on accuracy. I noticed the bullets were well lubed. Thanks?

A 2 grain deviation with large conicals is very good. You won't be able to blame bad groups on bullet weight. Yes on the lube but again, so long as it's good lube, less effect than you might guess.

The other day I shot conicals weighing from 280 grains, 300 grains, and 405 grains in my .41 caliber inline.... 75 grains of Pyro P as propellant for all shots, 3 shot groups with the 300 and 405 grainers, 5 shot group with the 280 grain bullets. At 100 yards the vertical and horizontal spread of all 11 bulelts was 3.8" and 3.1", respectively.

I discovered the same thing with the No Excuse 460 grain although my weights indicated an average of 458 grains. I am not going to get too worried about that. Strange is, they either did a terrible job packing them this time, or the box was really treated ruff. The bullets were all jumbled together in the box. First time that happened in over eight boxes....

I will just have to shoot them and see how they work. I am still waiting on the gun to come in. UPS ground shipping is taking a bit. At least I have the bullets. Can't wait to see how they shoot in my Knight Bighorn.

Steve, the 280s were some I had cast up from a mold that Skullmount had ordered and had sent to me to try out

The 300 grainers were some that Mark Lynch had sent me, sized and lubed with ONE lightly knurled lube ring.

Bull Shop now has a 385 grain N.E.W bullet mold for the .410 that should be a good one. He has lighter weight molds for that caliber as well, just not sure what he has. Gas-checked bullets might work well as I'm sure he has .41 molds with that feature.
