Default Round #2

Finally after all our family medical emergencies I got out to the range last Sunday. I had just picked up some triple seven ffg and really wanted to see what it would do. The wind was a little stronger than I cared for (14-23 mph)and I over adjusted my scope by about 2-3 clicks. After a few test shots I really tried to set a good group up. I used 110 grs. triple 7 and 250 gr. shockwave. I wanted to be about 3" in. at 100 yds. after I tighten the group a little more I am moving to the 200yd. range. Think things are working towards the sub-moa I was looking for. The next item is to try Dead Center 240gr. bullets. The one flyer low and right was caused by me throwing out a glob of powder that had stuck together in pouring powder into my powder measure, probably ended up with 90 grs. in that load.

FANTASTIC GROUP THERE!! That rifle is a real shooter without a doubt. And with winds to boot. I bet you are more then pleased with the rifle and the load development so far. Keep up the great shooting....

There are 2-3 of us members here using real close to you. We have settled-in with 105 gr. FFF using that bullet - or one very similar (PTX). You may need to back-off the powder a-tad using the 40/50 DC's. Last time I tried them with 777, I found 95 gr. to be the meal ticket there.

WOOOW!!!!! What a group I would be as happy as can be with that. I am just waiting for our weather to break a little so I can get out and work more with my new gun. If I can get groupes like that I will feel done! Great job.................Mike

Thanks for the info, I figure I got most of spring and summer to get this baby dialed in and play with some different loadings. I really want to get some good groups out to 200yds. I think I am dumping my Savage 210 slug gun and will use my Omega in zone 3 for firearm season.

Nice group, rcgerchow. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't shot my new muzzy yet. I hope it groups as good as yours.

Nice group in any mans language. Curious to see
the group at 200yds. Although most all of my
shots are at 50yds or below. Keep us posted.

Probably will be a week or two before I get to the 200 yd.range. I just ordered the DC 240gr. and we have several medical problems with some of the family. Sister-in-law-cancer not long to go and mother-in-law hospital to nursing home (she should recover well) and my dad fell and seperated his shoulder. I just happen to be at that age where all these things happen to your folks. I use range time as some therapy, but you know what the priorities are. Anyway the 200 yd goal is for some areas we hunt that have cut fields 150-180 yd. shots and maybe for a Canadian Trip next year.
