peep sight on eyeglasses

i was at sporting goods store and owner had a peep sight or aperature sight that goes on your eye glasses.it has suction cup to hold it on.that was neat.he said he uses it to sight in his muzzleloader .. it is only about 1/2 inch big, unreal stuff they are coming out with.

I've heard others talk about the same thing you're describing but have never seen it.

This sounds like a Merit optical attachment.I have one and it does work great. I use it for target shooting but not hunting. It has an adjustable iris which you adjust and set so that your dominant eye looks though it as you sight your rifle. What is does is increase your depth of field so that both the front and rear sight, as well as the target, are all in focus as you sight the rifle. It was actually developed for pistol shooters but also works well with an open sighted rifle. If you want to see what it does, you can get the same effect by placing a small piece of electrical tape, with a small hole in the center,on your eyeglass lens in front of your dominant eye.

I have a cheaper version that does not have an adjustable iris. I think mine is marketed by Lyman. I believe I ordered it from Midsouth. It works well for target but is not worth much for hunting as the big blob on the dominant eye glass is very irritating. I rely on a peep sight on the rifle for hunting although I usually use a scope as my state allows it.

that was good info. i am about ready to move my v-peep from rmc out farther towards the front sight.it is blurry at normal location of rear sight but front is clear to me. i am going to let rmc drill new hole and moverear sight towards the front sight. that has been my only problem with rear sights, they are blurry. i like that tape idea too, thanks.

try moving your rear sight forward, i am.i tried it already and the rear sight got clear for me after moving it about 10 inchs forward.i just laid it on barrel on sandbags and moved it real slow forward until it got clear.i am excited now again , i hope rmc agrees with moving it forward.i will update when i get it done.take care.
