Pair Berry's .452 bullets with Hornady sabots. According to Midway, that'll cost you 27 cents per shot, not counting powder or primers.

X2.

Or buy a .451 pistol bullet mold. The sabots however add cost quickly.

Never checked the price, but I bought a single cavity mold, roll my own on an old Coleman stove, get my lead free, buy ticking by the yard, make my own lube, have 50+ flints I bought in the '80s and have bought my powder direct from a distributor for about $12/pound...With a .40 caliber, shooting 20grs FFF, it's pretty cheap, with my .54 my hunting load is 80grs, so it's a bit more...

I'll echo the spit patched round ball, though whether from a flintlock or percussion is open for debate.....speaking of which, I raised this issue several years ago and, iirc,it became contentious for some reason.
