Default Cartridges For Moose

I have been doing some reading in an old issue of PETERSONS HUNTING from March 1988 and saw some cartridges for use on moose that I have never heard of... The cartriges are .33 Winchester the .318 westly richards .348 winchester. I was wondering if anybody has ever used any of these and how they perform on moose in brushy cover

I have heard of all of them. I had a 348 Winchester. It was chambered for twenty years starting in 1936. The Model 71 Winchester lever gun was the only rifle that chambered it. It shoots a 200 grain bullet at around 2600 fps. It also had a 250 grain and maybe a 300 grain bullet. I never tried the other two.

.33 Winchester isn't all that far away from a light loaded 338-06, and neither is the 318WR.

There use to be a lot of 348's around, but i haven't seen one in the woods in a long long time!!

I've never owned them, but i've had friends that did and i've shot them.

I used to own a .348 winchester in a modle 71,it was one of the best deer/elk timber guns I have ever owned.I wish I still had that one.[:@] I've been lookingfor another ever since. It would make a great carbine in a bolt gun and some spitzers.
