I think the military rifles shot a 174 grain bullet so the throats in these rifle is prety long. Thus bullets seated out as far a possible usually are the most accurate. The first bullet I ever tried was the 140 Hornady. I loaded up a few and went to the range. I shot a five shot group of 5/8 th inch and never changed a thing. The 140 is heavier than I like to use for deer(sectiol density wise) but I can't argue with a truck load of one shot killed mule deer. There just is not a better deer cartridge at any reasonable range.
