Whats the deal here?

Remington spends so much money on making the SPS line of rifles. I find this stupid because the ONLY difference between the SPS synthetic and the adl synthetic is thw SPS has a hinged floor plate. So my question is why go through the process of quit making the ADL synthetic when they could have just put a hinged floor plate on it and end up saving alot of money?[>:]
