Bow Hunt for elk - Idaho or Colorado?

I have an opportunity to bow hunt for elk in either Idaho or Colorado from 1-16 Sep 05. Which state would you pick and why? I don't have to get a big bull, but would like to see elk. I will be hunting with an experianced partner who has hunted elk before. I have only hunted deer in VA and am primarily going for the experiance. We' are both in good shape and working to get in even better shape prior to the hunt. Thanks in advance, Rick

Rick---Seeing your partners experienced in elk hunting, I'd go to the state and area he's already familiar with. This way you don't waste much time or days on scouting when you could be hunting!!---------------------------------ElkNut1

Rick7450, If you are truely going for the experience, then Colorado is the place you want to be. 14,000ft peaks, timberline hunting, huge mountain basins and the biggest elk population in the USA. September is a great time in the Rockies. God Elknut1 I sound like a tour guide! The good part is it is all true.

I have to agree with gselkhunter. The elk population in Colo is outstanding. They don't have the largest bulls in the country but you have a good chance at some action.
