I need to borrow a set of 300x1000 so I can help you scout for animals up there. I am going to take you up on your offer. It will be 2006 or 2007 I have a few things I need to do first. Hopefully getting hit by a bus before then isn't one of them.

I have steiner predators and like em. @$240 at sportsmans guide. the comments are right on the money about anything over 10X being a waste, VERY few people can use over 12Xunless you want to carry a tripod in which case knock yourself out. One thing to be sure to get is the bino buddy or similar harness, I got one at Wally world for about $16.

I field tested the Leupold Wind River Katmai on my elk hunt this past fall and was very impressed.

I have been using a pair of Pentax DCF WP 8x42, love them, since I can't afford Leica. I just found a pair DCF WP 10X42 for $275.00 bnib[brand new in the box], they run about $600.00, so now I have both. 8X42 will be my elk hunting pair and the 10X42 scouting and sheep hunting pair. You should buy the pair from Handloader1, very fair price, if they are in good shape.
