Lets say you were going to be sent back in time lets say 1810 and put right smack in the middle of the USA for two years . You can take one gun and all the amo you can carry(kind of a loaded ?) What gun and why?
Kind of off the ball ? but my mind somtimes takes me back to a time when man had to hunt and defend him self from the land and its pets.

12 gague shot gun. The most versatile gun ever made period. Capeable of killing everything on this planet. #7 shot for squirrels, rabbits, birds, etc.... 3 inch bb shot for ducks and geese. Buck shot for woods deer, slugs for deer and larger animals like elk, buffalo, etc...

It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."
My synthetic stocked 7600 Remington 30-06. No good for small game but I have faith in it to deliever at least five 200 grain Barnes X Bullets or Partitions in as many seconds. So for me will suffice for everything on this or most other planets. There is no other gun I would trust if worse came to worse and I became the hunted. Its the only gun that I know I can get off multable shots under almost any condition.
For the modern guns of today, I would take the good ole reliable 12 Guage 3" pump. #6's for the small game and birds, Size T for larger birds such as geese, etc, and 1 oz slugs for everything else.
For the guns of the time, I would take a 62 caliber smoothbore musket. Get close enough, and take most game animals with the round balls, and use the shot for taking birds and small game.
