Default Drive up Buffalo in Montana

I and 3 friends drove to Montana to a buffalo farm were you pick the one you want and harvest it in the way you choose. The farmer is only with you to make sure you don't shoot threw one and kill another animal, and to price them for you.You jump into the Hay truck he feeds them from in the winter, and drive right up to them .If you walk to them they run. Two of us used rifles and two used bows. No sport to it ,but it fills the freezer.
Is there anywhere a guy can hunt Buffalo in the wild anymore ? If so please let me know

The Henry Mountains in Utah & Northern Cheyenne Indian Resevation in Montana. Both have wild buffalo hunts.

There are three herds in Alaska. The Delta herd is road accessible and on private land. The other two herds are on native land and require a fly-in. Drawing a permit takes an Act of God.

Montana FWP is thinking about holding a drawing next year for the Yellowstone herd. I think it might be a media frenzy though as the tree huggers have vowed a big protest.[]
The story here. http://fwp.state.mt.us/mtoutdoors/HT.../buffaloed.htm

Also, there is Antelope Island in Utah, and I think there is a public land hunt on Custer State Park in SD

What is the point in shooting these animals with a bow? Clearly, this was not a hunt, so why not just shoot the animal in the head with a rifle and be done with it?

The expense of the wild herd hunting can get pricy as can the hunt you mentioned. I bowhunted a private herd in March on a 12,000 acre working cattle ranch-the Buffalo were in a 3000 acre section. It was fun & in no way a walk in the park-I was on a 4 day Archery only, either sex Bowhunt. I managed to take an est. 900# Cow the end of my 2nd day. I would love to do it again but at my age I found out this was very physically challenging. Crawling, running, sneaking & setting up ambushes nearly did me in. In fact, around noon the 2nd day I told the guide, If I don't get a crack at one b/4 the day is over I am taking AT LEAST half of tomorrow off to recoup. Then-late in the afternoon I got a 40 yard shot at this cow. The meat is delicious. My hunt was under $1000 total.
Anyone interested can private e-mail me for more details.

I see in the paper today Montana will be opening a season next year. You will have a lottery draw for them.I drew a tag the first time they did this, but they ended the season (befor I could use it) cause of protests.I was a little upset.[:@]
I will be putting in for one,I have a 416 Rem Mag waiting bark!!!!

1 guy used a bow and arrows(wooden arrows) he made from a u-tree,(HE MADE THE BOW ALSO FROM THE U-TREE).The other guy used a brand new bow that he had never hunted with. I used a 8mm mauser that has been in my family for many years, and lent it to my other buddy to shoot his. we paid for meat not a guide.
I would prefer to hunt the wild thats y i posted the message in the first place.
Thanks to all that have responded!

AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
