Default Huge Montana Elk ( Pictures)

I wish it was huge Like all the other posts you see here not everyone gets a giant every year. I hunted hard this year only to harvest this little calf in the last few hours of the Montana regular season. I passed on a nice one opening day and didn't see another till this one. Of coarse when I shot the forest opened up with bigger Elk but I was not going to get skunked this year. This should be a fine tasting little Elk.
To those of you who hunted hard and didn't get anything I know the feeling, as a few more hours and I would have went home Elkless.
These little critters along with my Moose should get the freezer about 3/4 full. This one came down to the wire and next year I will be doing it all over again.Damn this was fun and even if I had got skunked I had a great time just being in the woods hoping for that adrenalin rush

Now thats a wierd site for an IL boy like me two of my favorite animals what a great place you must live to be able to hunt whitetailes and elk in the same place .

Any need for a guy who knows how to pour concrete roads out there?

Congrats my friend. Believe it or not I'm heading down to the big hole for a cow this weekend. I just can't leave well enough alone I guess. I'm sure I'll be back on here whining about not gettin' one. Nah, I close the deal this weekend.

Congrats on your trophy. It's nice to see someone excited and more than willing to take a cow. In my opinion not enough hunters are willing to help out their local bull:cow ratio.
Cheers!

Any elk is a trophy, some just come with bigger bodies and antlers, and the best tasting ones come in a small package! Congrats!

Montana Bob

No matter what the size, elk just taste better. I and a friend are headed down toward the Dillon area tomorrow early. Gotta love it when they extend the season on Cows.... I keep telling everyone, you can't eat them antlers anyway.

Thanks to all and good luck to all my fellow Montanan's. There still is time to get some meat in the freezer due to the extended season in some area's. I hunt forest service bordering private ranch's and it might be the way to go for this late season catching them before they get to private property in the early morning.

You sure those things are dead? They look like they're sitting up posing for the picture.
