Default Got my elk

well after 4 days of hikeing and hunting, i finally got my elk, but with a price , i tore my acheillies tendon, so i guess its gonna be easy hunting for me for a while. but i got him, a nice 5 by 5, sneaked in on him while he was tearing up a tree and bugleing. i got with in 17 yards of him, about 40 or so yards above me on a another bench was the rest of the herd, i think he was trying to challenge the herd bull. i waited for close to 15 minutes , to see if the herd bull was gonna come down , but he wouldn't , so i took the 5 by 5, which , in my book is still a very nice bull. as soon as i get the pics developed i'll post them on here if your curious

ok here are some of the antlers, the ones up in the mountains where kind of dark, so i am trying to figure out how to lighten them up a bit. i gotta find a web site to see how to score him, since this is my second elk, i've never really gotten into how to score the antlers

or not,, guess my pics dont get along with the web site,, lol,, oh well i'll try again in a bit

bkkeys,

Congrats on the elk.
If I may ask, what were you doing when you tore your Achilles tendon?

from all the hikeing i had done chaseing elk,,they seem to like the nastest kind of terrain to live in. i am one of these kind of hunters that cant seem to sit still, and has to hike all over hell and back, but thats ok, i probaly would still do it again. still debateing as to whether or not to see the ortho surgen, or finish out my deer hunt, decisions decisions.
