Default September Elk

Hey Guys, I am going to an Elk hunt in the 2nd week of September in New Mexico. Just sort of worked out that I can go very quickly. Are the Elk bugling that early? Any guidance would be great. The hunt starts on the 10th of September, north of Albequerque.

Thanks,
Mike

Haven't ther fogiest about new mexico but up here, the rut is going strong by that time, sometimes by then even slowing down. Haven't heard a bugle yet this year, just a few barks. Within the next week i expect the rut to turn on here and the boys to start roarin. lol i got my elk already though so I will miss the excitment. best of luck to you

I was out at an elk farm last night here in MN. The elk are bugling and in the mud
on 8/26/04. The rancher told me that the elk are two weeks early this year.

Was just up bow hunting opening weekend in the Flattops of Colorado northwest of Eagle and the Bulls were quite. Heard a few chirps, but no bugles.

Hey Kirby,

I'll be heading up to Unit 33 above Meeker on Sept 15. I'd appreciate any updates that you can provide regarding weather & rut activity. You can just send me an e-mail if you'd like.
Thanks in advance!
Jack

I'm heading out in Idaho the 13-20th and know the bulls are already bugling there. Cold weather in right now too had them screaming all day yesterday.
