iam arranging a trip to canada to shoot moose and caribou and wasnted to know which calibre rifle i should bring. i have ruger m77 in 308, 30/06 and 300 win mag
Bambi! The 300 mag is the choice for most hunters here in Ont for moose ,but it might be a bit heavy for the caribou. I think the all round choice here would be your 30-06 for both .
In your case all three calibers will do just fine, all three are hard hitting calibers and have power to spare when hunting moose or caribou. So it comes down to witch caliber you fell comfered shooting, always remember shot placment is most cridical....but if i had to choose one rifle to take it would be the 308
I am from Canada and hunt both moose and caribou. Any of the 3 you mentioned is perfectly adequate for both animals so use whatever you shoot best. Obviously the .300 mag is the best choice for moose, if you shoot it as well as the others.

All are capable of killing both species. All things otherwise equal, I would bring the .300 if you don't mind the recoil, etc. and can shoot in comfortably. Always nice to have a little more gun than you may need.
