Good off season read

I am looking for a good off season read . Hunting ,shooting , outdoors. Partial to ELK and backpacking for them.But all of the above would be welcome suggestions.
Just as an off question? Who are your favorite writers? I am a big fan of Col. Boddington and of Mike Eastman.They just about cover it!!

Pick up a copy of Elk Hunting the west the Eastman way. I bought a copy just to pass the time during the winter. Mike even autographed it for me.
I like Mike Eastman because he can back up what he says with years of hunting & filming big game animals. Mike is also a nice person. I have talked with him several times. He was always very open & easy to talk to. I am just an average joe that loves to hunt big game. Mike likes the average joe eletrician, plumber, mechanic or construction worker that is hook on hunting big game.

A good shooting book is "Shots at Big Game" by Craig Boddington. It's got a lot of practical info.

Two hunting books I've found quite useful are by Jim Zumbo:

2. Calling all Elk
