RE: Deer hunting in Pinyon Juniper country.
Just like Blue Moose said. Lots of glassing. Use a good pair of less than 10X binoculars for most of the glassing and when you really want to pick apart an area use a good spotting scope in the 20X + range.
Pick a good vantage point that will allow you to cover a lot of ground with out having to move very much at all. When you do find one that you want to take plan every detail of your rout from your glassing spot before you take one step in the direction of the deer, paying attention to land marks, trees, shrubs that will help conceal your presance and keep you on the right track. It is best to do this with a partner staying back at the glassing spot so that you can look back and check with him to make sure that the deer is still there and that you are on the right track.
