i recently inhereted my grandfather's old model 99 in 300 savage i would like to hunt with it in his old hunting grounds --- the black hills --- i need some info on tags and public land if there is sny to be had
There is a lot of Public land in the Black Hills. Its almost all Public land. I am out of touch with the tags system but they used to sell them over the counter. Get in touch with the South Dakota Department of Game Fish and Parks. You can scan all the regs on their webb site at that address. Good luck. What a beautiful place to hunt. I have spent many happy days hunting there myself. I have a small farm about 50 miles east of the Black Hills. I was up there this summer camping and trout fishing.
My inlaws live in the Black Hills, and I deer hunt there every year. Tags are issued through a drawing, and it usually turns out to be an every other year thing for a rifle license whether you are a resident or not. I live in MN, but we usually head to the Hills every Thanksgiving. On the years that I don't draw a rifle tag, I buy a bow license.
